PAPER FLOWERS PICTORIAL.
This time just over a year ago I uploaded an image on my Instagram art account of some paper flowers that I had made out of newspapers. The flowers were really appreciated and so I put up a pictorial shortly after showing how I had made them. Unfortunately, the pictorial that I had made wasn't as clear as I thought it was because there was just too much going on with the background, paper pattern etc and so some lovelies requested for another tutorial with a clearer view on how to make it.
So, after spending a few months designing and fixing up this blog myself (alhamdulillah) I am finally, finally going to do another pictorial on how to make those sweet flowers out of paper which by the way are very easy to make, lets get started!
What You Will Need?
• A4 Coloured Paper / Newspaper
• Masking Tape / Sellotape / Double Sided Tape
• Scissors
• Jar / Vase

Step 1: First of all, we are going to start by getting the chosen A4 paper that we want to use to make the flowers (you can use card however, it's quite difficult to work with and can get quite untidy especially if it's the first time making them. I suggest using some kind of thin paper to start of with). We need to get a square piece and an oblong piece out of this paper as shown in the image above. To do this, fold the piece of paper like you would to make a 'chatterbox' and then cut the excess off, like it is shown above. Keep the oblong bit of paper you will be needing it further down into the process.
Step 2: Now we will be using the square piece and with this piece fold the corners inwards to the middle. So it will look like the end image above.

Step 3: Once you have have folded the corners into the middle, you will need to push the paper inwards in the middle of each side. Use the images above to guide you through this stage.
Step 4: Alright so after you have pushed the sides inwards, you should be able to open it up the way it is shown in the first image above. Then put your finger into one of the gaps and push open one side and push down the pointy part of the flap at the end as shown in the second image. Repeat this on each of the other sides to end up with a flower with four sides as shown in the last image above.
Step 5: Okay for now keep the flower to aside and now we are going to work with the oblong piece of paper that we kept to aside from the start. With this piece of paper you want to start by folding it in half side ways and then fold it in half again and keep doing that until you get something that looks like the first image above.
Step 6: Then what you want to do is grab some tape (for this tutorial I used masking tape but you can use any other tape you want or can get, I suppose double sided sticky tape would be ideal but this is what I had at that time aha) and take some off and start sticking it around the top bit of the folded paper but with the sticky side outwards so it acts as a double sided tape as shown in the end image above.
Step 7: Once you have finished sticking the tape on the folded paper, you want to leave that to a side. Now you are going to reach for the flower you had made a few minutes ago and what you want to do is using your scissors cut a little bit off the bottom, not too much half a cm would be brilliant!
Step 8: After you have cut of the bottom bit of the flower you want to get the folded paper and put it through the bottom of the flower, it will become a little undone but don't worry too much about that because you can fix it back up once you have put the folded paper in. Bring the folded paper upwards to 3/4 of the way into the flower and then push the petals towards the folded paper so it becomes attached to it as shown in the images above.
And there you have it, your very own paper flower! You can make more now and make it into a bouquet of flowers. I have put this green one in with a pink newspaper print one in a cute jar that reads 'Do whatever makes you smile' on my drawer in my room. I just love these flowers and hey you don't have to water them aha
You can make these lovely flowers with whatever print now, put them in anything you want and where ever you want I guess!
Get as creative as you want with this idea I suppose, as you can tell I went a little crazy with these aha and made quite a few. Some normal newspaper print flowers and some white paper flowers spray painted with gold as shown in the images above.
I think that's everything needed to make these wonderful flowers! I hope you have enjoyed this post and will have a go at making them. If you have any questions at all I would be happy to answer them just leave them below and I will get to them asap and also leave suggestions of what you would like me to write about next.
